I’m a budget bride in Alaska, and I am running out of time!
I get married on July 15th, and need cake toppers. I just haven’t been able to find the cute wooden dolls to paint. Where did you get yours??
    Thanks!
    -Steffi

  2. Hi Steffi! I got mine from Etsy- search wooden dolls cake topper. I bought mine from the seller “iUsedToBeATree” .. He’s from America too so it should reach you pretty soon. If ya order today, u should get it in a weeks time. That’ll give u loads of time to paint it! Hope this helps.. Good luck! XOXO

  3. A DIY wedding is the best kind you can have! I DIY’d my own earlier this year and it was great 🙂 Good luck!!

    Hi Budget Barbie,
Really excited to see how your DIY wedding will turn out! I’m glad to have found your wedding blog, as I’m planning to do a DIY wedding too. I wanted an alternative wedding, coz hotel weddings are just not for me and my hubby too. And the most vexing thing for me right now, is the venue. Could you share with me how much you are paying for it and the decor? Thanks!

    • Hello Evelyn! Congratulations on your wedding and welcome to the DIY club. When you say venue, I assume you mean for the dinner right?

My ‘solemnisation’ will be a catholic mass held at my Church in the morning, followed by a lunch reception. Cost was not much of an issue here, other than an offering of $400, we didn’t need to pay for the venue.

Dinner is going to be held at Republic of Singapore Yacht Club, on the outdoor foreshore deck. We have 180 guest at $102 nett per pax. This includes the tent, simple centrepieces flowers/decor and live BBQ buffet. Hope that helped! Think I may do a post on it soon… xoxo

Hi! I am so glad to have found your blog! I am getting married in Republic of Singapore Yacht Club as well!
I am not so artistic so I can’t really DIY. I tried turned out to be disastrous so I skipped out the idea.
But your ideas of a wedding is similar to mine! (I also wont have gate crashing cos I want him to see me on my gown when I walked down the aisle)
Though I will still have a photoshoot (in Bali) but it wont be my actual wedding down used. Just rented some beach dress to fit the place. My actual wedding gown is only for the wedding!
I am inspired by your blog that’s why I end up starting mine as well!
    Continue updating please!

    • Hi Kimberly,

Thanks for such a sweet note! 🙂

    Hello,

Would it be okay if you share your email? We run a wedding related boutique e-store and would really love to share with you what we have to offer (seeing that your really fun DIY projects have halted). We’re really not trying to do any advertising on your space. Sorry to reach out to you this way but we couldn’t find your email anywhere. Please go ahead and delete this post if you think it’s inappropriate and we can communicate via email. Thank you, and looking forward to your big day!

    Hi,
I’m a Filipina based in Sg and will have my solemnization here this June. Your blog is such a blessing as I’m literally a last minute bride (talking about a 6 week – wedding in the making) with no knowledge of where to find Sg wedding vendors. Your blog has brought so much ideas and your suggestions for wedding stuff on a budget were really helpful. I’d like to inquire more about purchasing wedding stuff online like in etsy and lightinthebox. Would you mind replying to my email that I keyed in the comment field? I’d greatly appreciate your response. Thanks so much.

    Hello Budget Barbie,

would you be able to introduce your hairstylist to me? I’m also looking for someone who can do my hair on my wedding day in January 2014 — I’m really not too confident of the makeup artists’ skills with vintage style hairdos! Please help!

    Best,
    Shan

    • Hi Shan,

My hairstylist was my personal friend and she’s not a professional hairstylist. In fact, she just graduated makeup school and maybe still learning hair. She doesn’t do very complicated looks.. however if you still want her contact, just reply and I’ll send it to u 🙂

      xoxo

    Hello B

Your wedding is very inspiring. Could you send me more pics of RSYC wedding while still maintaining your anonymity? Your blog has provided many ideas. Was the food good at RSYC?

Thanks for all the helpful updates!

    Hi B,

Awww, where do I start? Firstly, congratulations on your wedding and looking at it, it was such a success! I was doing a research on catholic weddings in SG and I’m so glad to chance upon your blog. Not only have you given and shared all the information I was looking for, you have also inspired me with your wedding ideas 🙂 Reading your blog was light heartening, straight to the point, detailed and funny too. I read all your entries at one go. I started to read certain post again, this time taking down all your contact recommendations. My big day will be in Dec next year. I’m sure you have helped a lot of BTB out there. Thanks for putting up all the info. Have a blessed and blissful marriage life ❤

    XOXO,
    Astrid

    • Awww Astrid, that is too sweet of you to leave me such a nice message. Thank you so much and it’s my pleasure to help you. I’m so glad this blog will be of god use to future catholic brides, sometimes it’s nice to have something to reference to when it’s your big day and you’ve never had experience~ I know how it feels.

I wish you all the best for your big day and I’m sure no matter what happens, you’ll be a beautiful bride and everything will go smoothly.. Good luck!

      xoxo B

Hello dear, would like to check with you regarding the tattoo concealer. I chanced upon your post while doing some research about the covering up. I had much thoughts whether to cover it up for my wedding. I love my tattoos however i think it will definitely look nicer without them in photos and of course, it will never look good during receptions with so many conservative relatives. 😦 sighs. Can i check with you, did you cover them up and the products you used because it seems that i could not find any of your updates on them. Anyway, hope to hear from you soon! Good day 🙂

    Regards
    Mel

    • Hey Mel.. Great questions and yes, i realise i didn’t close up that question on whether i covered it u or not. I decided NOT to cover it up so it does shows on my pictures. It did take me a while before I was sure of it but I think if the tattoos are a part of you and you love them there no need to worry on what your relatives think. Embrace your tats!! However if you are still uncomfortable with it, there’s always concealers (Makeup Forever or Kat Von D) or airbrush makeup to cover it up. I do airbrush make up so let me know if you need help 🙂 xoxo B
