22

My bed has officially become my wedding shelf and it’s a mess with all the invitation sorting done on it.

A day out to Chinatown’s market last Sunday and I came back with a beautiful paper cut double ‘Xie’ that is almost mandatory in the bride’s home. This medium sized one cost me $12.50

Ang baos! Well, they are not exactly ‘Ang’ (red) but they were the only one’s that were tasteful and simple and pretty enough for me. They can be found at China Town market @ $1.5 for 5 packets.  Need to come up with a list of recipients soon.

Wedding Photobooth!

Wedding Photobooth!

Spotted: A wonderful opportunity for all budget brides!

Groupon.sg has a promo on right now for a mobile photobooth at SGD$288 for 2 hours or $388 for 3 hours for unlimited shots and unlimited prints. Company’s name is Phooth (photo & booth, get it?)

I’m still contemplating on getting this service. I’m not even sure if I have enough space in the evening to accommodate them, but couldn’t keep this a secret from all of you! Make use of this deal, I don’t think these come by Groupon very often!

Market rate is about $750 for 3 hours by the way. this is quite a good deal 🙂

Wedding Booklet Template!

My first give away (well, sort of!)!

If you are a catholic Bride to be, you should know that recently the mass structure has changed. There are new text and new words for the mass order. This, of course, has affected all weddings and made many wedding templates online obsolete since they are not in use any more.

So I did some re-typing and changed it to reflect the current order! Ta-dah!

Wedding Booklet Template 2013:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VJMzM_VhcisgLePFCh3PQWpKrdUyKzNdchTv_fR5t2A/edit
I don’t know why but sometimes google doc messes up my alignments so I do apologise in advance for the weird spacings.

So some points to note:
1. I included a commentator’s welcome note – OPTIONAL.
2. Please fill in your names, don’t leave it as “bride and groom” -.-
3. Songs and Readings inserted are my choices. Please edit with your songs.
4. I included Processional and Recessional song songs – OPTIONAL
5. I added a Thank You page at the back, optional but I highly suggest adding it.
6. This booklet is for a full mass, not service.
7. Last but not least, always seek final approval from your celebrant priest!

You can use this and edit your own powerpoint slides if you have a high tech church like mine. 🙂 Anyway, please let me know if you have used this or if you found it helpful, I’d love the feedback. Hope this helps someone!

Started 2013 with a surprise!

Compliments of the season and a very Happy New Year to all!

2013 has finally arrived and all too soon so, will our wedding day. I’m feeling extremely nervous and excited all at the same time.

Yesterday January the 1st was our one year engagement anniversary, 🙂 One year ago, on that exact date, M asked me to marry him. And I said yes. There were many moments throughout the day when I was staring at my ring. I’ve been wearing this baby for one year already? Wow. Here’s to many more years of saying yes to one another..

On to more exciting news…

shopmerrylove
I WON SHOPMERRYLOVE’S GIVEAWAY! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH….

It was such a random surprise because it was just a comment and I really didn’t think they would pick me! But because I checked the the website every now and then I saw this post and did a mini scream in the middle of my office!  Thank you shopmerrylove, you guys have really made my day.

I won pom poms! I’m not sure colour I will get, but I will of course blog about the loot once they contact me about collection.

Dessert tables

2 more days to the 6 month mark.
4 more days to BFF coming home.
5 more days to M’s fitting..

… and 6 more days to mine. Liquid diet starts tomorrow.

I recently went to a wedding held at church. My choir sometimes get calls to help couples to sing for their masses so I decided to be very active in volunteering in singing for these masses because first and foremost, it’s good karma and also it’s a good way for me to see the whole morning without having to go through a rehearsal  (No such thing as a rehearsal mass, by the way.. it’s just a walk-through one week before the big day where you tell people where to stand at what cue.)

It’s a good opportunity for me to take pictures of flower arrangements  seating pews and any other special things I notice that will help me in deciding what else I should do for the wedding.

This particular wedding was facinating. It was my first time being up close and personal to the most embellished, colourful, filled-to-the-brim, decked-out dessert table.

collage1.jpg collage2
Yes, it looks even more amazing in real life, trust me. It was massive. Diabetes on a table. A buffet of sugary treats. Heaven to anyone who had a sweet tooth. The more I looked at it, the more I had to have one for our wedding, it was so mesmerizing. I didn’t care about any silly budget I had. It was a once in a lifetime day, I wanted a dessert table! I immediately hijacked a name card and iphone-googled the price on the website: http://www.etasweets.com/

Under the dessert table section I read this, “Our dessert table starts from S$3500 per event, with a minimum guest size of 125.”…… OK  fine. I can’t bloody afford this. I threw the idea of getting one out my mind-window. 😦  $3500? I must have been mad. No one eats that much dessert anyway!

So for all who want to splurge on your one big day, these are a list of companies that do dessert tables (not exhaustive):
Artisan Sweets  – Min $3500
Dessert and Palettes  – Min $1000
Celebrate with cake  – Min $900
Little house of dreams – Min $700
Let them eat cake  – $500 for 30pax~

So I may not get a dessert table as lovely as that but i wonder if we could DIY it? Logistic nightmare? Yeah maybe 😦

Bridal Robes

Whenever I look at wedding blogs, I always find myself gravitating towards pictures of the bride getting ready. She’s relaxed and glowing with such joy, sitting with her bridemaids, getting her make up and hair done in her white robes.. It’s my favourite part of the day when I look at the photos of the day.

Sources: 1, 2, 3

So I’m gonna try and recreate that gorgeousness myself! I really wanted a bridal robe.. Something white and silk, something very comfy and pretty.. But (of course) something that didn’t break the bank. So I started researching for cheap silk robes that I could bling up on my own! Cotton On Body sells ‘kimono’ robes in pretty japanese prints at $24.95 each. Etsy also sells gorgeous ones ranging from 25 SGD – 45 SGD. Still not cheap enough for me 😦

So I headed to my trusty Aliexpress.com in hopes I could find something cheaper and yet as pretty! Low and behold, I found this baby..

Guess how much it was…

JUST $8.11 USD. Which converts to around SGD$10.50. With Free Shipping. *mini scream*

I feel as if I’ve hit a jackpot. It was perfect in white, with the delicate lace, in comfy silk! Winner!

Will post reviews and pictures when it arrives, so all you bridal babies who want to own your own beautiful robes can do so without paying so much! I’m even thinking of sticking on my own bling saying “Bride” ..

🙂 Good buy? What do you guys think…?

Wedding Videos

Coco Rocha + James Conran

This is not a new video – in fact I think it’s really old. Probably 2-3 years old. But it never gets old. For me at least.

This whole wedding was such an inspiration to what I wanted for our wedding. It’s probably my 100th time watching the video today and I such am in such awe of the beautiful details. Her PERFECTLY round rose bouquet, her Zac Posen mermaid gown, her slightly smokey eye makeup, his simple tuxedo with that gorgeous white boutonnière rose.

VERY COINCIDENTALLY, Coco Lee’s wedding was also to die for… I should write about that another day.. I want to be a Coco.

Which leads me to wondering if I should hire a videographer… (I know, I know.. it’s not a wedding on a dime any more if I keep adding on this list of things I want..) But I wonder if at the end of the day, I would really watch it often and is it worth paying a professional to do it. I want to capture the morning and the ‘getting ready’ process, it’s my favourite part of the day..

Some go as low as little as SGD$488 for half day filming (VideoBox) and some go as high as SGD$2680 for 8 hours of filming (36frames). Of course it will highly depends on their skills/experiences/resources. I’m still sitting on the fence with this one, not sure whether I want to spend the money. Maybe I could ask my friends to film on their  handheld cameras..

Any ideas? Should I hire someone or get a friend to help me out??

Wedding Progress

Countdown: 234 days to go

Planning has slowed down a little. Most projects I’ve gotten started with are finished are stored neatly and safely in my wedding cupboard. Yes I have a wedding cupboard.

Doing things myself sure isn’t as fun but I don’t have a choice, M’s busy and not too great with the crafts so I’d rather him not touch them. Mum is busy working and BFF is still down under, so most things are done by myself.

Tip to other brides: Don’t do things by yourself. You can easily get tired and unmotivated. Grab your girls if you can and if not, do as much as you can for as long as you can like me! Then rest and call for help.

I’m using Google Doc’s Wedding Checklist to help me sort everything out. I love the document! it helps me plan my budget, keep track of my guests and best of all I can access it from anywhere since its uploaded on the google drive.

Next on the checklist: Booking of Caterers and Florist.

I think I’m gonna do research on the caterer I want. Full break down, and I’ll share my findings with you.

As for my Florist, my package is linked to 86 Creation Florist; anyone used them before? I think I’ll wait till December when BFF is back to visit her.

The Awesome-ness of Bloglovin!

No updates on wedding planning today.. I’m taking a minor break from all the planning and DIY-ing but they will have to resume sonner or later. I’m hoping my motivation will get back on track by December when BFF maid-of-honour gets her ass back to SG. 🙂

However, I want to share my love for bloglovin.com! Its a website that consolidate all the new posts from all the blogs or websites you follow! So you dont need to open different bookmarks you just need to visit one website and it has everything on one page for you. Best part of it, it has an app!! I can browse new real wedding post while I’m comuting to work! 🙂

Check out my list of blogs I follow:

I know right…. haha! I’m OBSESSED!

Whenver any of these blogs update a post, it’ll be on the main page and I can choose which post I want to read and which I can probably skip!

and check this out!!

2 Followers! hahah Woot. Anyway, I hope this makes bridal browsing easier for you 🙂
