1 year on + 2nd Wedding.

It’s been one since I got married and everything so far has been no less than awesome. I’m happily married to a man I respect and admire but still love and cherish with equal depth. We’re planning to get our house by the end of the year – BTO Bukit Panjang Segar Palmview.

Anyway, this isn’t a life after wedding blog so I shall get to the good news. My BFF / Maid of honour at my wedding is a newly engaged girl and I’m helping her plan the wedding! So good news, she’s allowed me to blog about it and hopefully hope you guys planning your wedding.

A little more information on the wedding:
Bride: Late 20s / Non-Catholic / Chinese
Groom: Late 20s / Catholic / Chinese
Dating for: 5 years
Wedding Date: 20 June 2015
Wedding Ceremony: Catholic Church [undecided!]
Wedding Banquet: Grand Hyatt [Booked]
Traditional/Non: Tea Ceremony

The rest is completely up in the air and undecided and unbooked. I’m helping the couple cause they are currently residing in Melbourne taking care of their yoghurt business. But she’s flying down from 2- 18 June to dedicate 1 whole week to see to wedding matters.

We’ve booked to see 7 bridal houses:
Silhoutte / Olive suite / Magaret Brides / Blessed Brides / La Marie / La Vita / Time Taken to Make a Dress

We’re planning to see 4 churches:
St. Theresa @ Bukit Purmei
Blessed Sacrament @ Commonwealth
St. Peter and Paul @ Bras Basah
Our Lady of Lourdes @ Bugis

She hasn’t decided on a photographer and videographer yet which kinda scares me. You know how the best are booked up wayyyy in advance.

Will update the progress within the week, in th meantime if you have any request of specific pictures from any of the bridal houses or venues let me know!

XOXO
B

My Church Wedding

Since M and I are both Catholics  it’s important for us to hold the ceremony in our Church, The Church of Our Lady of Pepertual Succour, which has been our parish for our whole lives and was also the place we met. We are both from a Choir so thankfully, music will not be a problem!

Our celebrant will be our current Parish Priest, Father Gregoire Van Giang.

Last Saturday we confirmed our slot for the 15th of June by paying a non-refundable deposit of $200 (for the church hall) + $200 (for the reception area) = $400 in total. All proceeds are in donation to the church. This confirmation usually has to be done 6 months in advance.

Mass timings are available at 9am / 12pm / 2pm . We chose 12pm but wanted it slightly earlier to allow for more time to relax in the afternoon, but we are only allowed to shift up if there are no weddings before us. I asked the church secretary and this is how the conversation went…

Me: Is there anyone in the 9 o’clock slot?
Her: Not yet..
Me: We were kinda hoping to shift the wedding a little earlier.. like 11 o’clock?
Her: That one you have to check 3 months before then we can confirm the timing.
Me: But I thought we have to confirm 6 months before??
Her: Yeah, but there’s always ’emergency weddings’ …
Me: *with one eyebrow raised* Ah.. Ok.. So I’ll call back in March to confirm?
Her: Yup!

Looks like I can’t print the invites till March/April then. 😦

So now I need to :
1) prepare wedding booklets (templates anyone?)
2) prepare mass order on the powerpoint slides (templates anyone??)
3) choose mass songs
4) choose 1st, 2nd reading & Gospel readings

Let the priest vet 2 months before and print wedding booklets! OH MY.. suddenly the rush of things to do is giving me headache. Happy Headache though, love planning my own wedding..
xoxo,

Oh Finally!

Okay, I finally got down to opening up a blog for the wedding planning. It’s been on my to do list for the longest time and I have always wanted to jot down this long and (I’m sure its going to be an) amazing journey of the process! So excited…! I know everyone would be excited for their own wedding, but I’m that girl who has started planning her wedding since she was 6. I’m that girl who has her dream dress sketched into her mind. Can’t wait to get started.

While I’m not trying to start my own wedding planning site, I thought I’d create this space so many others can see the true results of a DIY wedding. Especially those who live in Singapore! I may not teach or have clever projects to help you dave money but at least I hope to inspire you to create the wedding that is close to your heart. 🙂

I’m sure all brides have their favourite go-to inspirations sites. Here are a few of mine:
